ABOUT US
During my teen years I had a passion for becoming a hairdresser, however, life has many surprises, and other work led me down a few different paths. When I left school I became a Dental Nurse, and I was fortunate to work in private practice, as well as for the University of Queensland Dental School. I was also fortunate to be able to do this work in the Army Reserve.

Some Years Later
Some years later I married and had four children. While my children were growing up I continued my work in the Army Reserve, and this eventually led me into transferring from the Army Reserve to the Australian Regular Army, where I did administration duties as well as representational roles. The highlight of my military career was serving as a Sergeant with Special Forces. There I learnt the true meaning of brothers in arms in the military.
I discharged from the Australian Regular Army so that I could give my children more stability, and not have to uproot them every few years, because of being posted to all different locations around Australia. This seemed like the perfect time for me to retrain, so I decided to go back to my original passion of hairdressing.

I spent the next couple of years doing the full time, fast track commercial hairdressing course. After that, I spent another year doing the full time, fast track men’s barbering course. I also did a Diploma of Salon Management via distance learning. I was now fully qualified in my new chosen career, but I soon discovered that being mature in years, and lacking experience, was going to make finding employment very difficult.
Following my Passion
I decided that if I couldn’t find work in a salon, that I would design and build my own salon attached to my home, where I could follow my passion and create my own work. This had many positives, because it meant that I could work from home without the hassle of daily travel to and from work. Importantly, this also meant that I was in a position to be able to give my clients personalised, one on one service, and quality time, in a beautiful purpose built boutique salon.
This is how my business, Always Hair, came to fruition. My aim is to provide every client with a unique, personalised service, that will leave clients wanting to come back for more of the Always Hair experience.
